Spanish restaurant in Fidi with a smallish dining room and a room with a bigger table in the back. The venue itself is definitely an older building, but they added a lot of character to it with the decor. Very lively/popular on a Tuesday evening. Meant to be ate family style — order many small dishes and split them.
They specialize in Basque Spanish food. I’m not a fan of Spanish cuisine but the food here was quite delicious — my favorites were the grilled mushrooms with yolk and the egg omelette dish. Great wine selection too.
(Made a reservation for a Friday night, they do walk-ins but there’s a wait usually)
The quality of the tapas here reminded me of tapas bars I ate at in Barcelona, so overall I was impressed with the food.
Some highlights were:
Wagyu Hanger Steak with Frites - the steak was seasoned well and cooked perfectly - juicy, and it was served with a piquillo pepper sauce which added a tangy flavor
Patatas Bravas - reminded me of some I’ve had in Spain, very good overall
Chistorra - Spanish sausage from the Basque region - first time trying this and it had a nice, smoky, paprika flavor
The cured tuna with almonds was interesting to try but I probably wouldn’t order it again, the cured tuna tasted more like a salami to me than tuna.
We also got the basque cheesecake and sea salt olive oil ice cream, and I preferred the ice cream as it was homemade and had a very rich sweet/salty flavor.
Would come back again if craving tapas and to try more pinxtos!

A winner. Was looking for a contemporary alternative to the many Asian options in the area and was pleased to find Oliver. Food was well prepared, well presented and service attentive, relevant, timely and not rushed. Atmosphere was vibrant and relaxed. Portions not overwhelming. Prices according to quality and care.

Everything about Bar Oliver is amazing. The food is consistently excellent, well prepared, and full of flavor, with great attention to quality and detail. The staff is friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming, making you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for any occasion.
But what truly stands out are the desserts especially the gelato. Their fior di latte is exceptional, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Simply superb and absolutely worth coming back for.
