The service was wonderful.
The food was a silently delicious. Truly knocked my socks off!
Nearly the entire menu is gluten free.
I got fried mushrooms, fried green tomatoes, a blackened chicken burger with fried okra and fried jalapeño’s, and fried chicken and Mac n cheese.
Everything was amazing.
10/10 recommend for everyone with a gluten intolerance or celiac. This kitchen is safe and dedicated to gluten free goods.
I have a wheat allergy and dairy allergy, so was excited by all the positive reviews about gluten-free and dairy-free options here. I did not have an allergic reaction to my gluten-free banana bread waffle, so kudos there! But I was disappointed to find out that the allergy-safe options are quite limited if you're also dairy-free.
At the counter, I was asked if I had any food allergies, which is always reassuring and sets things off on a good note! The person taking our order talked me through what I could have, which included some of the gluten-free fried food. When I asked if those were made in a shared fryer with milk, she said yes, and seemed surprised that I had a "serious" dairy allergy. It's surprising to me that a restaurant touting itself as allergy-friendly would 1) assume any allergy is not "serious" and 2) recommend food prepared in a shared fryer to me without being more forthcoming about cross-contact. At any other restaurant, I'm used to playing 20 questions, but I had higher hopes here.
The gluten-free waffles and pancakes are made with oat milk, so I went with the banana bread waffle. The person who brought the food to our table reiterated that it was dairy-free and therefore had no butter, which I really appreciated! The gluten-free waffle itself was fine. Food allergy folks know that we'll pay a premium to safely eat out, but $16.75 (yes, there's an upcharge for gluten-free) plus tax for one waffle feels steep.
The multitude of gluten-free options are so cool to see, and I'm glad Bantam + Biddy is offering them! Based on reading reviews ahead of time, I got the impression that I would have plenty of dairy-free options too, but that really isn't the case if you can't tolerate cross-contact.

So initially I went here because I thought the name was kind of interesting. I thought a Biddy described something completely different. However, while visiting, I learned it's also used for chickens. That being said, the food was still amazing, and I enjoyed the simple menu as well as the fact that during my time here. One minor detail was off with my fiancee's matcha. However, they gave here a completely new one. Which was greatly appreciated.

I couldn’t rate this place highly enough. Service was exceptional, very friendly. I got a GLUTEN FREE banana bread waffle and GLUTEN FREE fried tenders! If you’re gluten free, then this is the place for you- so many options and delicious. My partner had French toast (not gluten free) and also really enjoyed his meal. 10/10

Bantam & Biddy was such a great find! The fried mushrooms were absolutely delicious — perfectly crispy on the outside and full of flavor, filled with a dollop of pimento cheese... definitely a highlight of the meal. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles and loved every bite, especially the unique twist of having bacon cooked right into the waffle.
On top of the great food, I was impressed by how many gluten-free and vegan options were available in their bakery area. It’s clear they’ve put thought into making sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Friendly service, tasty food, and inclusive options make this a spot we’ll definitely return to next time we’re in Chattanooga!
