I've had Villa's Tacos on my radar for a while. Not living in LA I needed to wait till my next trip down. Welp, luck would have it I arrived two weeks after the Super Bowl 60 half time Bad Bunny show that featured Villa's Tacos. I was happy to wait in line with the peoples. Everyone was upbeat and the wait went quickly. I even saw the owner come out and chat up line and posing for pictures too. You should have plenty of time to know what you want before you are able to step inside and order. Two polo tacos, simple street style tacos. Super tasty with a great kick of heat. The side radishes are a good pallet cleaner. Well duh, I will be back next trip to LA.
I’ve been living in Tokyo the past few years, and the one food I miss most is tacos. So when I was planning to visit LA, this was at the top of my list, despite the overwhelming new contenders in town (and despite our Puerto Rican friend creating a new surge in hype). I had a tight schedule and only one slot for a taco joint, and decided to come here… and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. Look, I’ve lived in LA for years and had some of the most phenomenal tacos under our golden California sun. But somehow… this place creatively distinguishes itself from the pack. It’s all the little things done right put together. It’s the handmade tortillas. The charbroil smoke-infused meats. The melted cheese crust. The smattering of crema. The powdering of cotjia cheese. And that hope-filling sight of a diversified salsa bar. The line was long, but goes by in 10-15 minutes, prob the bigger problem is seating, yet we got lucky and got a table as soon as we came out with our food. This might take top 2 in my book of fav LA tacos.
Visiting LA from NYC and had to stop at Villas Tacos after seeing them highlighted during the Super Bowl. Expected good tacos, but left with so much more. The owner showed genuine gratitude for the attention he’s been receiving. He personally thanked everyone waiting in line and made everyone feel at home. The hour wait felt more like a block party celebration than anything else. Made some new friends on line and shared an amazing experience. Dessert was fire. Tacos were 10/10. Recommend to all friends!
Iconic LA taco stop. The tacos are excellent — and the jugo de sandia was delish as well. This is a must stop if you are in LA. The relatively simple menu makes it easy to pick, and there is no bad choice. The queso taco option is indulgent but worth it, and I got the Villa’s trio sampler (recommend if you want to try a few different meats!). Some people were eating outside and making the hood of their cars a table. Just an awesome place with great food and a great vibe.
