We visited the Three Horseshoes yesterday (27 April 26). After an intiial error on my part, thinking I had carefully booked on line in advance, I had not completed the booking (or would have received both a phone call and email confirmation). Despite this we were quickly and sympathetically allotted a table for four on the terrace in glorious sunshine to complement the most attractive setting. We were almost completely alcohol free and so are unable to comment on the wine-list but the food was exceptionally good. To open the batting, friends both had white asparagus, which came as a most generous helping with very thoughtful presentation and was unanimously declared delicious. I had a stonking fish soup, presented with deep rich colour and a central swirl of golden aioli. It was almost a meal in itself with good complex marine flavours and depth of texture. The Boss - with diminished appettite these days - opted out of a starter but elected the grilled cod served on a bed of rich aromatic spinach and topped with a rich, creamy hollandaise sauce. Two of us enjoyed the pork schnitzel, lightly fried in breadcrumbs and served with a shout of wake-up Kimchi and radish slaw. Our friend opted for the Angus beef pie, beautifully presented in its own ceramic boat with puff pastry to die for encasing its rich generous meat and sauce. We had little space for puddings and settled for a good cafetière of ground coffee served at our request in china rather than the glasses originally offered (Mmmm...). We were served at table by Mia and Robyn who neatly balanced personable, unobtrusive friendliness with good observant service. Behind the scenes, Josh, Callum, and Tiffany are clearly keeping the ship afloat and in ful sail. Well done Team3HS!
A fantastic village pub in a beautiful location. We were staying nearby for a weekend break, and it was only a 10-minute walk away, making it the perfect place to relax. The beer garden is lovely and a great spot to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine. The restaurant was extremely busy, which is always a good sign. We didn't eat on this visit, but after seeing how popular it was, we'll definitely be back to try the menu next time we're in the area. The staff were warm, welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. We'd happily recommend The Three Horseshoes and look forward to visiting again.
What a great find this was. My cousin and I were trying to find a halfway meet up point (London and Devon) and we came across this fabulous pub.
We met for lunch and it was so good we came back for dinner!!
Generous portions (which you certainly don’t find everywhere), extremely tasty. As well as this, a really lovely pub garden.
We thought it was busy for a Monday but apparently it was very quiet. We can certainly understand why it is so popular. Definitely worth a visit. If you are looking for a light bite for lunch however, it is a bit limited unless you want a snack. We went for the toasted sandwich.
Very much recommend
Very over priced and massively under-performing. So disappointed for our date night. Menu sounded lovely, but every part of our meal had something wrong in a big way, please don't get me started! All very fatty too and we left feeling really sad and a little nauseated. £130 for 2 starters and 2 mains (the £26 mutton pie came alone so £6 for cabbage side) and 500ml carafe of wine with 12.5% tip. Atmosphere wasnt great, not cosy and bad acoustics. Gardens looked nice though. Would not recommend.
Went for lunch with three for Grannies 88 th birthday. Lovely garden and nice art on the wall. Quite an expensive menu, considering there are no sides at all included in most of the mains. For these prices you expect top notch with attention to detail. Starters were very nice especially the koolrabi salad. Cannelloni were very average and not piping hot. Coffee plonked on the table without it being poured and not very clean glasses without handles provided to drink the coffee. Cheap paper table cloths. Not what you would call swift attentive service. Shame, as previous visits a couple of years ago were excellent.
