We stayed in the bird room with our dog for one night. The pub is lovely and the lady who showed us to our room was friendly and welcoming. Honey our cockapoo got a lovely welcome pack the best we have ever had. The room was well equipped and had a massive shower, only problem was it was 27 degrees in the room even with the fan,and our dog was struggling and panting all night,I had to leave the top of the barn door open all night so I didn't get much sleep. That's not anyone's thought just it was the hottest day in may on record. The evening meal was lovely and the pub atmosphere was brilliant. The bar staff and evening waiting staff were helpful and friendly ( our waiter/bar man has only been there 2 weeks )but he was very friendly and helpful when asked about the menu. The 3 stars was for the first days experience. Unfortunately the morning felt like we woke up in a different pub, waiter was not very friendly and no service with a smile or morning welcome (I don't think he wanted to be there) my wife enjoyed her pancakes but my full English was served up on a cold plate which ment cold bacon, cold black pudding cold beans, luke warm sausage, eggs and hash brown. We were the only 2 at breakfast 7.40am but I didn't mind the 20 minute wait as I thought it was being cooked fresh, we have been to alot of bed and breakfast establishments over the 6 years with our dog and I have had warmer hot buffet breakfasts then the one at the bell,I left most of it,the waiter never once came over to clear plates so didn't bother as he was not approachable. I wanted to tell someone when leaving our key however no one was there when we left, plus when we asked the waiter where we should leave the key he told us put it on the desk. Would he better if there was a box to post key in for early leavers. I was going to give 3 stars but I don't think it would have been fair as it was the most dog friendly places we have been to,
so 4 stars for the first day and -1 star for the morning service and staff member.
Stopped here for dinner after a day out at Bedgebury and it was fantastic. Amazing ambiance; classic old pub with a beautiful veranda. The food was great, we had the crispy squid and trout salad followed by the bell ringer pizza and chicken roast, then the chocolate mousse and passion fruit curd. The kids likewise enjoyed their pizza and fried chicken. My only complaint is that the Hugo was more gin than elderflower.

Just had a really delicious Sunday Roast. Well prepared, quality ingredients, with a twist on the trimmings - cauliflower puree, heritage carrots and parsnips (cut long), tasty cabbage, large and very crispy roasties, a big, puffy Yorkshire pud, flavourful gravy and apple sauce. Our party of four all had the roast pork that was rolled with excellent crackling and crispy bits. The cut of meat had a little more ‘soft’ fat than I like but I can’t fault the preparation. The venue is gorgeous and quirky with loads of unusual decor and pieces of furniture. There is a super beer garden at the rear with fun seating areas. The staff and service were fantastic. Their interactions were genuinely friendly and kind. The staff alone would make me want to return so it is great that the food is so good. Only tweaks that would make it perfect for me; a bit more gravy and fix the wobbly table. I’ll be back…

We spent two nights at the Bell with Bobbi our Cockerpoo. We all enjoyed our stay immensely. Right from when we first arrived the staff were so friendly and made a big fuss of Bobbi. We had one of the outside lodges; "the Pour Amour" - well, what a fabulous, quirky but delightfully decorated room, so nicely presented, clean and tidy with virtually everything you (and Bobbi, our dog) required for our stay. The big double bed was huge but most importantly it was extremely comfortable. The onsuit bathroom/shower/wetroom was equally as well presented and stocked with high quality liquid shower soap, body wash, hair wash dispensers and really nice soft towels and dressing robes. The added bonus was a lovely little enclosed courtyard with a jacuzzi- what more could you ask for. The food in the restaurant was very nice, and the waiting staff charming and helpful. If you have a dog and want to bring it to stay with you or even if you don't we would thoroughly recommend the Bell to you as a place to stay, relax and enjoy this splendid Inn.

Such a quirky, eclectic pub! We had no booking and were met with a warm smile and sat in their beer garden along with MANY others. There are some fabulous antiques - the entire place felt like "eye candy!" Super staff, friendly and prompt, and tasty meals beautifully presented. Thank you.
Australia is our home but hope to return.
