The shop is stunning and I only liked the salad dressing in my breakfast set. Sadly, the service didn't match the atmosphere. As the first guest of the day, I expected a warm welcome, but the female staff member seemed quite unready and unprofessional in her communication. The way she spoke is the main reason I’m hesitant to come back.
Superb café in a bustling street, which provides a calm and welcoming environment. A highlight for us was the Hida milk ice cream they serve. The best ice cream I have ever tasted (Can really taste the Hida milk) and very creamy. Furthermore, they offer great beverages, desserts and other food items such as the Hida Pork hot dog. In addition to this, the staff are extremely friendly, providing great service. There is also a separate restaurant upstairs serving Hida beef dishes, and a store directly connected to the cafe where you can buy a variety of products. Definitely a place you should visit if you are in the area. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Takayama.
When we visited the old town it was pouring with rain so this was a nice cafe to stop and have a cake in whilst we waited for it to stop a bit. The cake was tasty and very aesthetically presented and the fresh fruit served with it was lovely. I would recommend it as a nice place to stop by if you’re in the old town. My ice tea was nice too.
One way to beat the heat is to stay cool in this cafe. It has a nice interior that has its own butcher (or it is the butcher has its own restaurant!).
The Cutlet Sandwich was delicious. Fresh and not oily. The staff was helpful and patient with our orders.
