Shokunin is a Japanese-themed cafe in Pontianak, known for its zen Japanese-style interior with prominent wooden elements, reflecting the meaning of 'Shokunin' (carpenter/artisan). It offers a premium dining experience with many photo-worthy spots, making it suitable for casual visits, business meetings, or focused work.
Customers praise the beautiful Japanese ambiance, zen interior, and photo opportunities. Service is generally considered great. Popular items include the gourmet croissant, shio pan, and the 'Lost in Tokyo' drink. However, some food items receive mixed reviews, with dry ramen noted as too salty, fried rice as bland, and chicken nanban as sometimes lacking flavor. There were also mentions of the lemon cake being too sweet or the pistachio lemon cake having a refrigerator smell. Facility issues like non-functional or smelly toilets were also noted by some.
The name 'Shokunin' is a Japanese term referring to an artisan or craftsman, which is reflected in the cafe's wooden architectural design and attention to detail.
Morning or afternoon to evening are recommended to enjoy the atmosphere and avoid the heat.
