While walking through the Old City of Akko, we walked into Roots to make a reservation. We discovered that no one would be allowed in after 16:00, as the restaurant had been reserved for a large party. If you plan to eat there, reservations are very important.
We asked for and received a printed menu, as well as extra plates for sharing our meals. We chose several items, none of which was like anything we had ever tasted before. Everything was absolutely delicious.
Note, however, that because the restaurant is kosher, anything that seems like it contains a milk product actually contains milk substitutes, which we never eat on principle, the principle being that they don't' taste anywhere near as good as the genuine item.
Their stuffed vegetables were so good that they have ruined us for stuffed vegetables anywhere else! We simply couldn't believe how good the food was.
The chef was classically trained, in Israel. Different items are prepared by three different cooks, all excellent.
We were served ice-cold tap water. There is a sink in the restaurant, but the toilets are at the other end of the courtyard.
We hosted our daughter’s birth event at the restaurant, and everything was absolutely perfect—the food, the atmosphere, and the service.
This is a true fine dining experience that beautifully blends traditional Arabic home-style cuisine with a modern twist. We received nothing but outstanding feedback from our guests, both about the food and the restaurant’s design.
Highly recommended for special events, or even just for a relaxed meal if you’re looking for high-quality, delicious food at a very high level.
Roots in Accor is one of the best restaurants in Israel and the prices are fair. My hubby is pescarian, and I hate cinnamon and don't like cumin, both of which are used in abundance. But what we chose was great and we didn't leave hungry. 500 Is for 2 starters and 2 main fish dishes and one desert. The restaurant is kosher but makes cheeses and yoghurt from nuts. Just delicious
The most amazing experience!!! Located in Akko, the restaurant is nestled in a courtyard lined by trees and nestled in the middle of fortifications dating from the crusader era. The host was gracious in sitting us down even if our email for the reservation did not go through. I recommend calling and speaking to someone to make a reservation. The food was absolutely out of this world. The wait staff was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing and there was no rush for us to leave. I highly recommend this amazing restaurant.
Excellent restaurant taking inspirations from Levantine cuisine. Service is great and food authentic. We definitely recommend the place.
Returned this year again and still one of the best restaurants in the North.
