Best Times to Visit
The restaurant serves lunch and dinner. Reservations are sometimes required, especially for specific dates or events, as indicated by a Facebook post regarding a weekly menu. It appears to be a popular spot for group celebrations and regular visits.
We had excellent meals on a cold Sunday and were fortunate to be seated in the bright sunroom. The mushroom brie soup was very tasty as were our chicken apple salad and beet and burrata salad. I added steak to the beet salad and it was cooked perfectly and tender. Would return.
I visited the restaurant for the first time with a group of ladies for a birthday celebration. Very limited vegetarian choices on the menu. I choose the You-pick-two: Caesar salad and a grilled cheese sandwich with the bacon on the side to give to my friend. Plus a glass of house white wine. My plate was very hot when I received my order. The salad bowl was on a napkin on the same very hot plate as my sandwich. The salad was a bit limp due to the heat and there was very little dressing on it. It was a bit of chopped romaine, a few packaged croutons and some Kraft Parm. (I recognized it as tthe same stuff in my fridge at home.)
The sandwich was OK. Not sure if butter or oil was used to grill it, All I could tell was that very little was used. The bread was pretty dry. Half the sandwich had very little cheese. The other half had a lot of cheese. What was interesting was that out of 12 of us present, the only one that enjoyed her lunch was a lady that had chosen a chicken salad. Everyone else was very politely quiet about their lunch.
Our server Destiny was wonderful. Unfortunately without her smiling face and her pleasant attitude this whole lunch would have been a total disappointment to me.
I read a lot of glowing reviews of this restaurant. Somehow a bunch of l ladies in a private dining room seem to have been given mediocre food. I didn't hear anyone say they wanted to come back. I'll give it one more try and sit outside on the veranda. Hopefully the food I am served will be better out there than what I got inside today.

I want to start this review by saying we have been coming to Lopez Legacy restaurant since 2015. This has always been our favorite and go to restaurant. We live in the Brownwood area so not too close to this restaurant, but because we like it so much, it’s worth the drive up.
I have noticed just the past couple of visits that there have been some changes that I believe are affecting the quality we’ve come to know and appreciate.
I am only going to review our most recent visit. We went to lunch on Thursday, June 18, and while they were people dining, it did not seem like it was extremely busy. After we were seated at our table, it took 10 minutes to even get acknowledged that we were sitting there. That could’ve been because our server was busy, but many times if the waitstaff see you say I’ll be right with you, and then we are fine. What drives me crazy is sitting there and sitting there and no one even acknowledging that you’re in their restaurant. Our server, Jordan finally did come over to the table But if he had said, I’m sorry to keep you waiting, I probably wouldn’t be writing this review.
We ordered the boom boom shrimp, appetizer, and when it arrived, we had to ask Jordan for plates to actually put it on. The presentation seemed a little sloppy like The shrimp were just tossed on and not plated. Some of the shrimp had sauce, some did not, And there was not any extra sauce on the bottom of the plate to rectify that situation. We then ordered our lunch, and my husband ordered a Coke and I ordered a drink from the bar. That was pretty much the last time we saw Jordan. Our dirty shrimp platter and plates were still on the table even after our lunch had been delivered.
My husband and I shared a chicken Parmesan sandwich, and while it was good, it had very little sauce on it And the roll seemed a little stale. Our food was delivered by another server in the restaurant who was very attentive and asked us if we needed anything, which we did, and she brought that item back within 30 seconds. We were halfway done our sandwich and still hadn’t seen Jordan. I did see him in and around his dining station, but it was like we were invisible. The manager happened to swing by the dining room, to ask how everything was. The only thing I said to her was that I was still waiting for my cocktail which we had ordered quite a while ago, and that our experience that day just did not live up to the Lopez Legacy quality. The manager went to the bar and came back immediately with my drink and apologized for the service mishaps. And it was the manager who had to clear off the dirty appetizer plates. I’m pretty sure the manager said something to Jordan, as he came by immediately, and also apologized for his inattentiveness, which we thanked him for saying.
While this is not a very positive review, we will continue to come to Lopez Legacy, and in fact we have reservations for the following week for dinner. But what I would hate to see is a change in food quality Or what has always been impeccable service start to slip and slip, and then becomes one of those restaurants that’s just ok. My husband and I love going out to many of the restaurants in the Villages, And it is not always just about the food. It is about the atmosphere, the service, the friendliness of staff, and the quality of food altogether that makes a restaurant extraordinary and the customers experience special.I still feel that Lopez Legacy is an extraordinary restaurant, But on this day, our experience was just OK.
