I had a great shopping experience at Morrisons. The store was clean, well-organised, and easy to navigate. The shelves were well stocked, and there was a good selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, bakery items, and everyday groceries. The staff were friendly, approachable, and happy to help when I needed assistance. Checkout was quick and efficient, making the whole visit pleasant. The prices were competitive, and the quality of the fresh food was excellent. I'll definitely be shopping here again.
Disappointed I can't award 0 stars.
Where to begin...
As my local big shop, I've not got much of an option on where to shop unless I want to be scalped at Tesco Extra or Co-op.
Saying that, the prices aren't very competitive here either.
I've likely spent over an hour of my time over the past couple of years waiting for a team member to help when the self serve machines inevitably kick up a fuss as the management see fit to only ever have one assistant on the self serve machines at a time, even during peak hours.
I've heard multiple accounts from friends (and experienced first hand) stories of rotten food, broccoli crawling with caterpillars, and insects found in baked goods. It's truly disgusting.
The shelves are often out of stock of essentials. If you go after the 4-6pm rush you'll be lucky to find certain vegetables and other essentials on the shelves. Even before peak hours some essentials are missing from shelves which can mean trips to other shops causing great frustration.
Not helping matters is the general feel of the shop; it's clearly not had touch of TLC in the last 20 years, the lighting is dingy and depressing, there are constantly puddles all over the place with murky brown looking stains, and the music straight out of the 2010s makes me want to leave the shop as quickly as possible.
Add to that the serious health risk that the failing freezers pose, I am genuinely concerned about the food safety standards in place at this store.
Finally, the pricing... It seems that every time I visit the shop, prices have raised and the tags haven't updated. I'll take an item to the checkout only for it to be 10-20% more expensive once scanned. On seeking help from an assistant I am met with the line that "we can't change the prices on the tills... if you want to take a picture of the tag and take it to the customer service till they'll refund you". This is incredibly frustrating and has happened on multiple occasions. SORT IT OUT.
Unfortunately, they seem to have a monopolistic hold on central Chorlton with it being the only large shop within walking distance leaving me no option but to suffer through a visit a few times a week.
One plus side is they do stock the best beer in the world - Mahou.
All this considered, the Chorlton Morrisons is a dire place worth avoiding at all costs. I'm hoping it will be replaced with an Aldi or something as, in my opinion, it's beyond saving.
The store and staff are fine overall. My issue is with the new pricing tags - I think they are electronic and likely updated centrally. Today I bought 5 items, 4 were on offer and one of these 4 items was charged at full price at the till. Staff are unable to rectify the issue in store, so I will have to take the time to complain via the app (again...this isn't the first time I've experienced the issue). The new tags are also problematic, as they have a tendency to be in the wrong place too. Misleading at best...and on a bigger shop - the issue would have probably gone unnoticed and I would have been overcharged; which could quickly add up if 25% of all offer prices are not being charged correctly (as was the case for me today). I'm just fed up of having to micro monitor shopping in Morrisons now.
The worst most disgusting morrisons that i’ve been too.Items are rarely stocked and there’s which is a big issue but the biggest issue is that they’ve always got a leak somewhere! The fattest most stinkiest leak is near the hot food and fish area in the back, absolutely RANK! it stinks of pure… and it’s like brown dirty orange absolutely vile.I get it’s not the staffs fault but please do something about it,it’s really unhygienic.
There fruit is horrible too always weird in texture and taste, every time I buy fruit from there I 100% would throw it in the bin
I feel for the staff that are working in that stinking environment
Edit:walked past it a week after this review and i let me tell you that store just stinks horribly
I don't have an issue with the staff but items are never labelled correctly or updated on the system. Been in twice in 2 days and put items back because they were marked incorrectly on the system. Hardly going to spend £4 on a chocolate bar when it was advertised as down to £1.5. Then staff saying you have to pay full price and they'll refund the difference, feels like such a scam and the clubcard is too. It never works
