Some restaurants are special because of the food. Others because of the experience. MEC Restaurant is special because it combines both - and adds a unique piece of technology history.
Located in Palermo, this one-Michelin-star restaurant is also a museum of Apple products. Six rooms of the restaurant are filled with rare and historic Apple devices, created from the private collection of the owner, who dreamed of combining a museum and a restaurant under one roof.
And he succeeded.
It is a fascinating feeling to sit in a room surrounded by Apple products that are worth millions on the collector's market, while enjoying an incredible meal. Of course, I couldn't resist - I had to explore every display case and discover what was hidden inside.
MEC offers a vegetarian tasting menu, but when I asked for a vegan version, there were no complications at all. The kitchen embraced the challenge, and the food was every bit as impressive as the technology collection surrounding me.
The five-course tasting menu costs €140. A visit is worthwhile not only because of the cuisine but also because of the rare Apple products that you simply won't see anywhere else.
I didn’t go for the food, but for the museum. This place is unique in many ways. It has the best collection of Apple exhibits I’ve ever seen. Whether you’re a Steve Jobs fan, a computer enthusiast, or anything in between, you should visit.
They’re open during the day for a small fee, allowing visitors to enjoy a stunning collection of Apple products — from the 1970s Apple I to the Apple Lisa, NeXT machines, Macs, and even Pixar memorabilia. The balcony view is also the best in town.
Special thanks to Francesco for his thorough knowledge of Steve Jobs and Apple products.
One of the best restaurants we have been to on our trip to Sicily: the food is great, the attention at the height of a Michelin star but above all the atmosphere of the restaurant/museum that if you are an Apple fan you will appreciate!
Was one of the greatest culinary experiences of our lives. Not the greatest atmosphere - I mean it's quite and pleasant, but to be surrounded by computer architecture is not the most interesting - but WHO CARES when you're having an incredible meal? We chose a la carte. After our waitress took our order, we never saw her again - so we just asked whoever came into the room. No problem, was just strange. Very expensive! For us, once a year - maybe. We had a one-star Michelin meal once before, but this was far superior.
Everything about our evening at MEC was simply perfect — from the refined ambience and impeccable service to the creative and flawlessly executed tasting menu. The restaurant’s location inside an elegant Sicilian palazzo adds a sense of timeless grandeur, yet the space simultaneously celebrates modernity through its exhibition of Apple’s design history. This unexpected blend of past and future creates a unique and captivating atmosphere.
Each dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and rich in flavor — thoughtful, balanced, and deeply evocative of both tradition and innovation. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the whole experience feel personal and memorable.
Dining here feels like being part of a story — of art, technology, and gastronomy seamlessly intertwined. Absolutely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates fine dining at its most inspired.
