Ladino

The restaurant was very aesthetic and had a nice ambiance. Service was attentive and very helpful. My friends pressured me into getting the mezas de alegria, which I still regret because it's quite pricey though you get to sample quite a few of their dishes. I didn't get to eat everything because I'm quite picky but really liked the olive oil cake, the butternut squash dip which was surprisingly lovely and the pita was heavenly. The pork shoulder appeared very fatty but didn't taste fatty at all, which took us all by pleasant surprise. I was not the biggest fan of the saffron chicken which took me by surprise. All in all, was a nice experience and while I may visit again, I'd never do the meza de alegria. Sat in the patio area which felt very comfortable in spite of the warm temperature out.

My husband made our dinner reservation six weeks ago, for a post-graduation family celebration, and he chose perfectly! Our twelve guests ranged in age from 14-79 years, and everyone had a wonderful experience. We began with waters for the table, soft drinks, and cocktails/mocktails (Man Walks into a Bar, Amba No. 5, Don Alberto, Green Shug Collins). Due to our large party, we had booked a chef’s tasting experience, which was spectacular. The appetizers were plentiful, flavorful, and unique. Our server, Anissa, did a wonderful job of explaining each dish— its components, highlights, even suggesting that after finishing the beef dumplings, we stir the oil and yogurt together for an amazing pita dipping sauce. Our meal included four meats— actually five, considering an off menu chef’s creation for our pescatarian guest. It was such an immersive experience, I never took out my phone to capture photos of the food (or our group, sadly). Three desserts topped off the evening. When (not if) we return, we’ll certainly request Anissa again. She made the evening a complete delight, even bringing out celebratory candles for our honored guests.

Ladino at The Pearl is easily one of the most memorable dining experiences in San Antonio. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels upscale without being overly formal, and the location at The Pearl makes it an especially great place for a night out. The restaurant has a beautiful, modern design, with a lively energy that fits perfectly with the surrounding area. The food is where Ladino really stands out. The Mediterranean-inspired menu offers a great variety of flavors and dishes influenced by Sephardic, Balkan, Turkish, and Middle Eastern cuisines. Everything is designed to be shared, which makes it fun to order several different dishes and experience as much of the menu as possible. The fresh pita coming straight from the wood-burning oven is a must, especially paired with the dips and spreads. The spicy feta was one of my favorites, with just the right amount of heat and an incredibly creamy texture. The lamb and beef dumplings were another standout, with a rich yogurt sauce that brought everything together perfectly. The grilled meats and seasonal vegetables were also full of flavor and cooked beautifully. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, and the staff did a great job explaining the menu and helping guide the experience. I also really appreciated how each dish had its own personality rather than feeling like typical Mediterranean food. Ladino is definitely worth visiting if you’re at The Pearl and looking for something beyond the usual San Antonio dining experience. Great food, excellent atmosphere, creative cocktails, and plenty of dishes worth coming back for. Definitely a place I would recommend and return to.

Such an amazing culinary experience at Ladino in San Antonio, TX. My colleague and I truly enjoyed how they layered and played with different flavors, everything was creative, bold, and very well balanced. Each dish felt thoughtful and unique, while still being approachable. The food is also shareable, which made it a great experience for us. With drinks included, it came out to about $50 per person, which felt very reasonable for the amazing quality. Ladino isn’t Michelin-starred, but it’s recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, which highlights great food at a great value and it definitely lives up to that recognition. Overall, a fantastic experience, and we’d absolutely come back.
