La Mercerie is a creative and festive neighborhood restaurant in Marseille, known for its team-driven concept led by Chef Harry Cummins, Sommelière Laura Vidal, and Julia Mitton. It offers an omakase-style tasting menu focusing on local Provençal flavors in a warm, calm, and understated ambiance.
Customers highly praise the exceptional, precise, and beautifully balanced food, along with spot-on wine pairings that elevate the meal. The service is consistently described as kind, attentive, and impeccable. The atmosphere is generally warm and calm, with some noting 'millennial nostalgia' music. Minor criticisms include potential issues with specific seating (e.g., near toilets) and the outdoor patio being affected by scooter traffic and smokers.

I had a very enjoyable evening at La Mercerie in Marseille. I chose the tasting menu with the wine pairing and overall it was a great experience. I sat at the bar, which was a nice touch because I could watch the kitchen in action and see all the energy behind the dishes. The food was delicious and clearly prepared with great care, and the wines in the pairing were interesting and thoughtfully selected. The sommelier explained each wine with the dishes, which I appreciated. The service was friendly, attentive and always happy to answer questions. Personally, if I return, I might choose a wine from the list instead of the pairing, simply as a matter of preference, but overall it was a lovely experience and definitely a place worth visiting in Marseille.
This was the best meal of the entire trip! We did the tasting menu, so we didn't know what we'd get, but it was all fantastic. The food was all so creative, unique, but, most importantly, delicious. The wine pairings also brought the experience to the next level -- each wine was thoughtfully selected and explained by the sommelier, and they truly did elevate their respective courses. But perhaps best of all, they were very accomodating of our 4-year old son. He got to share bites of the tasting menu with us, but they also made a lovely spring gnocchi dish for him that was a perfect addition if he was unsure of any given course (he loved every course too). The staff was friendly and super attentive, and many of them spoke great English when our miniscule, broken French no longer sufficed.

My partner and I had a very nice 3-course set lunch here. We enjoyed the vibe of the place, quite casual yet refined. The food was great, the servers were friendly and efficient. A good experience!
