Holmen Lofoten

One of my favorite hotels ever! We loved every minute here. The design, service, views, and attention to detail were incredible. Don't miss the dinner -- it was a highlight of our trip and our favorite meal in Lofoten. You get to watch them prepare the meal in front of you and everything is locally sourced. Try the homemade kombucha and teas as well -- Nina the herbalist rocks. Breakfast is 3 courses and probably the best hotel bfast I've had. You have to email to book a room and dinner requires a reservation. This is a hidden gem in Lofoten!! Would recommend x1000

Most amazing place my wife and I have stayed in. Service, food, accommodation are brilliant. The guided activities were a highlight with incredible knowledgeable and lovely people. The scenery is stunning!

Warning! We are a group of five people who booked a table at Holmen Restaurant for 29 July 2026. We cancelled the reservation a full three days in advance due to some changes in our plans — not on the same day, not the evening before, but 3 entire days beforehand. Despite cancelling 3 days in advance, Holmen Lofoten invoiced us approximately EUR 900 as a “cancellation fee” – an amount equal to the full tasting menu price, including 25% VAT. It is difficult to understand why VAT would be charged on a cancellation fee when no food or service was actually provided and no information is giving about any cancellation fees online under «Dining». Holmen Lofoten’s handling of this matter appears highly questionable. Potential guests should think very carefully before making an advance reservation here. In our experience, even cancelling a full 3 days before the booking can result in an extremely substantial financial demand. What followed was, in our view, an unnecessarily aggressive and confrontational approach. The communication was rude, the fee appeared wholly disproportionate, and references were made to involving lawyers. We are lawyers ourselves and are not intimidated by such tactics. Other guests, however, may feel pressured into paying a highly questionable charge simply to avoid further conflict. Our advice is simple: do not book in advance unless you are prepared to risk a very expensive dispute, even after cancelling days beforehand. There are many better and more welcoming restaurants in the area: Gammelbua, Underhuset etc.

Had a wonderful dining experience here. The tasting menu was very unique and thoughtfully uses as many local and seasonally ingredients as possible. Everything was presented beautifully and delicious. The ambiance was rustic and cozy with windows overlooking the sea. Staff were very down to earth and friendly. One of best dining experiences we've had in Norway.

Recently stayed at Holmen and had a really great time here. It is a place where you can truly relax in beautiful surroundings, the room was thoughtfully designed with everything you need, comfortable bed and nice powerful shower. Breakfast is done in a slightly different way and provided in a number of courses rather than a buffet; a really interesting approach and allowed us to try a number of different options, which were all great and full of flavour. I appreciated the attention to detail for the breakfast service, food is presented really well and the service is relaxed and very friendly. Loved our time here, all staff are really friendly and happy to help with anything you need, we will return as soon as we can for another stay!
