Not our first time there and definitely won't be our last. What an absolutely incredible meal and dining experience! Chef David and team were warm and welcoming and clearly so passionate about what they do. Sitting at Chef's table watching them flawlessly execute each dish was fascinating, and it was fun watching the expediting chef who was incredibly focused and made each plate a work of art. Every dish was well balanced with complex flavors and textures and all had the perfect amount of sauces and garnish. Portion sizes were very generous and we left positively stuffed. The menu options had influences from a variety of cuisines so every bite was a little adventure. Service is top notch without being stuffy. Truly cannot say enough about this place!
What a fantastic time! A Must, Must, Must experience! There were 16 of us sharing in a most delicious hands-on cooking experience from scratch. Lots of tips learned from our 2 fantastic siou chefs 👩🍳 👨🍳. Ingredients you would not use together turned into perfection for the dish. The end result is a sit-down delicious dinner of all dish creations that we all helped make. The interaction with the chefs & participants was fantastic. A gift card is the perfect gift to give or receive for any holiday, Mother's/Father's Day, Birthday etc, Or just a fun night out! Don't forget to bring the wine but if you do they have a variety you can purchase. Buon Apetite!
Took a phenomenal cooking class tonight. Sunday dinner with Chef David. We learned so much and the food was amazing as always. Best mussels I have ever eaten! Very interactive during the instructions
UPDATE (August 2026): Two years on from the review below and the answer hasn't changed — except that it's gotten better. Heirloom is still my favorite restaurant in New Jersey. I was in recently for a business dinner at the farm table and it was a great experience start to finish. One thing I've noticed lately: I know Chef Viana has always been behind this place, but I've seen him in the kitchen on my last few visits, and over that same stretch there has been a significant elevation in the menu and the plating, and in the experience as a whole. It was excellent before. It's sharper now.
ORIGINAL REVIEW (2024): One of the best dining experiences IMO in New Jersey. Absolutely my favorite in NJ. The food is fantastic. The staff is passionate, friendly, and very attentive. The atmosphere is casual. If you can get the reservation, try the chef's counter so you can see how the food is being prepared and chat with the chefs. Otherwise, you can get a table or sit at the "farm table" which is shared with other people (I've always had great conversations.) My favorite? I come here often, it is all really good, but I find myself returning to the duck, which is fantastic. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.
My girlfriend and I had dinner at Heirloom Kitchen last night with two other couples, and it was absolutely excellent.
I normally visit once or twice a year, but this was the first time my friends had been there. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile by the hostess, and the warmth of the staff continued throughout the night. Everyone was kind, welcoming, and attentive without ever being intrusive.
The menu was explained with real care and passion, and we never felt rushed. It felt like the whole evening was designed around sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the experience.
One moment that really stood out was when I ordered a particular dessert. During dinner service, the hostess quietly came over to let me know that the chef was not fully happy with how that dessert had come out that evening and recommended we try something different instead. That level of honesty and care says so much about the kind of place they have created.
We were all truly happy with every aspect of the evening. Thank you to the staff, the chef, and the cooks for making it such an amazing night for us.
