Hattie B's is a popular Nashville-born restaurant specializing in authentic Nashville hot chicken, known for its six heat levels, jumbo tenders, wings, and Southern sides. It has expanded to multiple locations across several states.
Customer Perception
Customers generally praise Hattie B's for its crispy and tender hot chicken with great flavor and a good balance of heat. The Southern sides, particularly the pimiento mac & cheese, crinkle fries, and banana pudding, are frequently highlighted as delicious. The staff is often described as friendly and welcoming. However, one review mentioned concerns about cleanliness and the smell at a specific location, and felt the 'hot' level wasn't very spicy.

Great hot chicken spot located in The Assembly Hall Food Court at one end of Broadway.
Bright and well lit. Friendly employees. Food is made fresh and served hot. Lines can be long .. they move fast however.
Chicken is crispy and tender, full of flavor and not at all dry. Fries are some of the best I’ve eaten. Coleslaw is rich and delicious.
More of a chain than a local spot. The food is great and worth the cost.
First time visiting Hattie B’s and it definitely lived up to the hype in Nashville! The chicken was very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The flavor + hotness combination makes it pretty smoky and delicious.
The sides were just as good. I highly recommend the pimiento mac & cheese, crinkle fries, and banana pudding. Each were uniquely flavorful and went above my expectations.
The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. Cashier gave us the best recommendations and staff members checked up on our dining experience. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean despite the place being relatively crowded. Highly recommend if you want some amazing hot chicken!

A must visit for Nashville Hot Chicken! We were in the area for a while and noticed there was constantly a line at this location even off hours but it moves quickly and is worth the wait. If you like your food more on the spicy side, go with Dang Hit level. Although calling itself habanero, in my opinion it's not really quite as spicy as that.

Chicken is not the best. I have been to other Hattie Bs and the smell that comes out and inside of this location is disgusting. One would assume they are using old oil and have not changed it. The bathroom doors are also an indication of cleanliness. The bathroom doors are black from dirty hands pushing the doors open. I think this location really needs a clean up. The food itself is A little overhyped. Hot is not very hot at all. The chicken pieces were good Super crispy but still not more than 6 out of 10. Tried all the sides. Black eyed peas 6.5 out of 10. Collard greans 8 out of 10 potatoe salad 7 out of 10. Macaroni was over cooked 2 out of 10. Grits was 5 out of 10. The star is actually the waffles. Simply amazing. Will come back just for the waffles.

Hey Everyone,
We stopped at Hattie B’s while visiting Nashville, and it definitely has that classic hot chicken atmosphere—busy, lively, and full of energy.
My husband ordered the chicken to try the different heat levels, and it lived up to its reputation for bold, spicy flavor. While I didn’t personally eat, I was able to see multiple orders come out at the counter, and everything looked fresh, well-prepared, and consistent in portion size.
They offer a wide range of heat levels, so you can choose how spicy you want to go. It’s definitely a spot for people who enjoy heat.
I also noticed they had a variety of sauces available and even packaged items like chicken skin crisps to take home, which was a nice touch.
Overall, it’s a great place to visit if you want to experience authentic Nashville hot chicken—just be ready for the spice and the crowd!
