Goldener Stern

Never visited this place before, it was a recommendation of my wife's uncle who comes here regularly. And I have to say, the food is 5 Star. What I ordered - see pics- was well cooked, tasty and nicely presented. The chef has taken what I would call the Bavarian staples and reinvented them for a premium audience. In other words, elevated the well known dishes, such as Schweinhaxe and Cordon Bleu, to another level. I am also impressed with the provenance of the ingredients, and the chef openly sources locally and organically. The restaurant itself has a modern faux-Scandinavian feel, it is clean, light and has a premium feel. The service was okay on the day I visited and in fairness, the place was rammed(it was lunchtime on a BH, BTW), and the serving team were doing the best they could under the circumstances. I also like that this is a generational family business and it is successfully offering " destination dining". If you want to try, then book, and I mean BOOK well in advance (anacdotally I'm told evening bookings are full several months in advance.) PS, the restaurant owns a stand alone venue called The Loft, around 50M up the road and this has ample car parking behind it; use this car park because the car park opposite the restaurant has limited spaces.

I was in the Augsburg area on business and the client wanted to take us out to a special place for dinner and boy was he right! I couldn't have asked for a better experience and everything was first rate. This place is so unique and it really epitomizes the farm to table concept. The service is attentive and the food is simply off the hook incredible! If you're in the Augsburg area, this is a can't miss experience!
