What an incredible find! Just a few steps away from one of Kyoto’s most crowded tourist streets, you suddenly enter a completely different world – quiet, authentic, and almost like a private Japanese neighborhood.
Address:
Sagatenryuji Tsukurimichicho 33-25, Ukyo Ward
Kyoto City, Kyoto 616-8384, Japan
The concept of this restaurant is already something special: the menu is minimalistic and almost entirely based on duck icons and emojis, which makes ordering surprisingly fun and unique. From the moment you arrive, you follow small duck footprints on the floor leading you to your seating area – a charming and thoughtful detail.
As is traditional in Japan, you remove your shoes before entering, which adds to the authentic atmosphere. The interior is beautifully designed in a calm and elegant Japanese style, and the garden area is very well maintained and peaceful.
The staff – especially the chef – were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. You can really feel the passion behind this place.
And the food? Absolutely outstanding. The duck dishes were perfectly prepared, incredibly flavorful, and visually stunning. Every plate felt like a small piece of art.
This is not just a meal – it’s a full experience. If you are in Kyoto, this place is a must-visit.
