As locals, we've been eagerly looking forward to FIR's once a month Sunday Lunch Tasting Menu, and it certainly did not disappoint.
The setting is absolutely beautiful, creating the perfect backdrop for what was a truly exceptional dining experience. Matt and his team are doing an amazing job, delivering food and service that were flawless from start to finish.
Picking highlights is incredibly difficult because every course was outstanding, but a few dishes that particularly stood out were the Chalk Stream trout, the Longhorn beef, the brisket-filled Yorkshire pudding, and the warm, freshly baked Welsh cakes served with whipped salted butter. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with incredible flavour.
The attention to detail, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality made for a memorable afternoon. We will definitely be back soon to experience the full tasting menu.

Seriously tasty good, with fantastic warm and welcoming service in a town centre intimate dining room. Tasting menu of 15 courses with a wide ranging drinks menu to complement it. Exquisitely presented and some real taste sensations, highly imaginative but not too weird! Catered for our pescatarian preference. Will return when we get the chance.
Absolutely fantastic tasting menu, very well priced for what you receive. The langoustine dish was my favourite closely followed by the chalk stream trout, but every dish was excellent. Go before the star is received and you can’t get in! Just brilliant.
