Wow! I was blown away. New American is my favorite cuisine and Cup Cafe does not disappoint.
I ordered the salmon caprese which was INCREDIBLE. Our waiter Keith gave a great recommendation. He said it was his favorite and I can see why.
The salmon and asparagus were perfectly cooked. The Parmesan risotto was slight under and crunchy but the flavor was so good I didn't mind.
My other two friends ordered the fish n chips and the tofu curry dish on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised that both of their dishes were good also.
I took home a slice of the Bailey's chocolate mousse which was amazing. I got it last week and it was slightly different but still very good and I think I liked it even more this week.
There were two things that were out of so I will have to try them another time. I was still happy with what I got and would definitely come back!
We came to Cup Café (the hip restaurant on the ground floor of Hotel Congress in downtown Tucson) specifically for the vegan options — and they absolutely delivered.
We tried the lettuce wraps (served with garbanzo bean fritters), the country fried tofu sandwich, and the Kathmandu curry with quinoa and vegetables —we added blackened tofu . All of it was excellent. The best part? The vegan dishes actually come with solid vegan proteins. The blackened tofu was delicious, and the tofu sandwich was great. OK
But the real winner was dessert. They had a couple of vegan options that night (brownies and strawberry shortcake). We went with the strawberry shortcake served in a glass jar/cup… and it was so good we immediately wished we’d ordered two. We were fighting over every last bite and who got the bigger scoop down to the final morsel.
Word of caution: If you’re coming with your partner and ordering the strawberry shortcake, grab two — especially if one of you is a competitive eater. 😉
The atmosphere is lively (it’s a busy hotel restaurant), so it can get a little noisy, but that’s part of the charm. The location is perfect — right downtown at the end of 4th Avenue with tons to do nearby once you’re done eating.
We’re giving Cup Café a solid 5 out of 5. They earn it for offering thoughtful vegan options with actual vegan proteins and creative vegan desserts that go way beyond sorbet. We’ll definitely be back.

First time dining at Cup Cafe for dinner and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. We ordered the homemade fries to share, my wife got the burger, and I asked our server to choose between two French dishes I was interested in. She recommended the ham and brie with French onion soup, and I’m glad she did.
My wife absolutely loved her burger, the fries tasted fresh and homemade, but that sandwich… wow. It brought me right back to childhood in the best way possible. The hot ham and cheese was phenomenal and full of comfort and flavor.
Thank you to the staff for the great recommendation and for providing such a memorable dinner experience. We’ll definitely be back.

We are a longtime fans of the cup, but the last two times we have visited it has fallen short. I asked for a medium burger and it came out well done. The soup had absolutely zero flavor, and the server actually agreed. We love their strawberry cheesecake, but seasonally they were out of it this time. I hope they improve their food quality because their desserts remain always on point.

Had breakfast at Cup Cafe while passing through Tucson on an Amtrak trip from Marshall, Texas, and it was an excellent stop.
We sat outside on the patio which was a great choice. The morning was a little cool, but the patio heaters made it comfortable while still enjoying the fresh Tucson air. The outdoor seating area is really nice with trees, plenty of space between tables, and a relaxed downtown atmosphere.
The food was exactly what you hope for when getting breakfast on the road. The pancakes were big, fluffy, and cooked perfectly. We also had eggs and bacon which were simple but done right. Coffee was hot and kept filled, which is always appreciated when starting the day.
Service was friendly and everything came out quickly. The whole experience felt easy and welcoming.
This was our first time ever visiting Tucson, and this place made a great first impression of the city.
If you’re staying downtown or just passing through like we were, Cup Cafe is definitely worth stopping at for breakfast. I would absolutely eat here again on my next trip.
