Clover Club

I had been wanting to check out Clover Club for a while, especially given its reputation and recognition as one of North America’s top cocktail bars in recent years. We stopped in around 4 PM on a Sunday, which gave us a more relaxed look at the space. The interior is beautiful. It has that classic, timeless cocktail bar feel with a level of detail that shows real intention. From the coasters to the immediate water service, everything feels thought out and polished. We focused on cocktails. I ordered the Forever Young, made with corn flake infused reposado tequila, limoncello, soy milk, lime oil, and pandan. My girlfriend went with the Lava Lamp, a rum based drink with lime, orgeat, guava, pineapple, coconut sorbet, and prosecco. Both drinks were clearly technique driven and visually impressive. The presentation alone sets a strong first impression. My drink had a texture that reminded me of a Ramos style cocktail, smooth and well integrated. Her drink leaned more tropical, with the guava coming through prominently and carrying the profile. Both were interesting and well constructed, even if not everything felt perfectly balanced to my personal taste. Service was the one area that did not fully match the rest of the experience. It was not poor, but it lacked the attentiveness you might expect from a bar operating at this level. In hindsight, sitting at the bar would have likely elevated the visit. Watching the cocktails being built and engaging with the bartenders would have added another layer to the experience. One thing we both regretted was not ordering food. Based on everything else, it feels like the kitchen is probably just as strong as the bar program, and it is something we will definitely explore next time. Overall, Clover Club lives up to much of its reputation. It is a place where technique, presentation, and atmosphere all come together in a meaningful way. I am glad I finally checked it out and I am looking forward to going back. Overall: 4 out of 5 stars.

I came to Clover Club to try a NYTimes rated best manhattan. Clover offers an impressive and unique variety of cocktails, from frozen to hot drinks. The manhattan was delicious (accompanied by cheese, yum), although a bit sweet. My friend’s espresso martini was superb. The burger was ok. Sexy dark lit venue.

A cool vibe bar in Brooklyn: I quite liked the ambiance of the place, a great place to take a date or for celebration, the bartenders/staff was very cool and chill, and their menu is quite good. Had a Clover Club of course, the Gin raspberry sour classic, quite lovely. Also had the Smoke and Mirrors, a spirit forward bacon washed tequila, smoky and quite unique. Definitely a bar to try, they got all the fundamentals covered.

Great spot to grab cocktails in the neighborhood. It gets quite busy on the weekends but there’s a reason why. The inside has a nice dark vibe to in and there’s always good music and loud conversations going on. The cocktails are a bit on the pricey side, especially for the okay quality but the vibe definitely makes up for it. Would recommend if you’re in the area and looking to grab a drink.
