OMG! I just had the Prime 8 oz filet mignon at Castaways tonight and it was so delcious and the beef was the higest quality and was better than any steak I have had at those fancy steak houses. They use Riverbend Ranch steaks and it was cooked perfectly with a delcious crispy crust on each side with sautéed mushrooms and onions. 10 out of 10! I'm always getting the filet mignon steak now. Rachel the head chef cooked it perfectly and everything came out perfect! Tonya, Mattie and the entire Castaways crew are awesome and so friendly. I had the vanilla Porter craft beer and it was a great pairing with my filet mignon steak. We feel so blessed to live on the lake and be able to roll up in the Jetski or boat and have a 5 star meal with amazing live music! Thanks everyone for making the Big Als and Castaways so awesome!! Cheers!! Thanks, Mike!!
They were short staffed over Memorial weekend and service was slow, probably not the norm, but it was our first time there. The food was good, but the portion size was small for the price. Beer selection wasn't great and staff didn't know the difference between a Kolsch and an IPA. Great atmosphere though. I'll give them another try.
Went to the bar as we were not greeted on entry. Was told to sit wherever and that they would check on use in few minutes. They were not busy. Maybe 6 other people in the restaurant. Other people were seated and waited on. After about 15 minutes, my wife went to the bar to ask for assistance. Wasn’t apologetic. They waited on us. Order the pizza which was “ok” at best.
This has a great spot, looks nice and clean inside and out. Came here with my family and extended family.
It was pretty slow, there were only two other tables of two and one of which wasn’t ordering food. After we placed our order, it took 46 minutes for the first two entrees to come out. A pizza and a burger, it took another 16 minutes for the rest of our table’s food to come out as the restaurant filled up and other tables food came out. The pizza was decent but $17 for a burger that the patty was dry and room temp fries was a let down. Do not ask for water, bring your own. My pregnant wife had to return her chicken salad as the chicken was slimy and not hot, luckily they did comp that dish. Not sure if anything was made fresh other than the pizza.
The best thing that our table ordered was the chicken strips, which the kids and adults chicken strips are the same plate but priced differently for some reason.
Service was slow, food was off and the water is too. I’d like to say we would be back to give them another chance but after paying $44 for two people I’d rather spend that money elsewhere since I could prepare better food at home.
I like leaving positive reviews but felt so strongly about this location that it became my first negative review. Hopefully the owner can get their service in order and produce a better product. If you’d like to have a few drinks and live music here is a good choice just don’t expect mush from the kitchen and service to be punctual.
While on vacation we stopped at Castaways this past Saturday for a bite to eat. Our visit was enhanced because of our excellent service by Stephanie. She was so friendly and attentive and went out of her way to make sure everything was as we ordered and that we were satisfied with our food. We eat out often when traveling and when at home and the service we receive is very important to us. While many take the time to complain about their service and food we always feel the opposite. When we receive outstanding service we try to take the time to share our experience with management and others.
