Buca's was an absolute surprise in the best possible way. I'll be completely honest. Whenever someone says, "Let's go to an Italian restaurant," I'm usually a bit skeptical. There are far too many places that throw a few red-and-white tablecloths on the tables, serve pasta that tastes like it came from a food service distributor, and call themselves authentic. Buca's was the EXACT OPPOSITE! I've been coming to Chatham/Cape Cod for years, and this was, without question, the best meals I've had on the Cape. Now, full disclosure, I'm NOT a seafood eater, so I can't compare it to the area's seafood restaurants, but judging solely on the food we ordered, the atmosphere, service, and overall experience, this place absolutely knocked it out of the park. One thing I've noticed over the years with many beach towns is that some restaurants become successful because of their location rather than their food. They know tourists are coming regardless, so the meal only has to be "good enough." Buca's never gave that impression. Everything felt intentional, well-executed, and worthy of the reputation they've built. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between business casual dining and comfortable, the cocktails were good, and every dish was clearly prepared with care rather than simply rushed out of the kitchen. The service was attentive without being overbearing, the pacing of the meal was excellent, and by the end of dinner we were already talking about what we'd order the next time we visit. Needless to say, Buca's has earned a permanent spot on our Cape Cod dining list. If you're looking for an Italian restaurant that actually delivers on quality instead of relying on vacation-town traffic, this is the place. Highly recommended.
