This is a terrific Mexican-based take-out place open for lunch hours. I cannot recommend it enough for their tasty & low cost dishes.
I was there last week for a convention and went there twice for lunch - I'd definitely recommend the brisket tacos! (yum!)
I was at the Mandalay Bay Hotel for a convention, and walked by this place a few times. We were finally lured in by the smell (amazing!), and the intrigue of barbecued Mexican food. My husband and I both ordered the smoked brisket burrito, and my mother ordered the brisket lover bowl and oh my goodness! It was soooo good. The brisket by itself was perfectly smoked and tender, the coleslaw added a slightly sweet element, the crispy potatoes added the crunch, and everything else together with the tangy bbq sauce.... Oh man. You gotta try it. We asked them if they would come to LA, because we would definitely be regulars, but alas, the answer was no. If you're ever at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, please stop by. You will not be disappointed.
Border Grill didn’t want us, so we went here and it was perfect. Put a sign out in front if you restaurant that you don’t discriminate and anyone can eat at your place. Hope you enjoyed our $300 because your neighbors need to go out of business.
BBQ Mexicana was a highlight as far as meals go for my trip. I didn't explore much so that could be one reason why, but for a take out burrito bar, this place was very good.
I was attending a conference and passed by this place multiple times while they were closed. The decor and pictures of delicious looking burritos kept me somewhat drooling over having one. So finally I decided to skip the conference lunch and get a burrito. I opted for the Brisket Burnt Ends burrito. It was substantially filled as one would hope a burrito to be. The brisket was tender and had a good smokey flavor. Rice and other filler helped pack it even more. Overall, it had a great flavor. I'd definitely recommend it.
I also opted to try the Guac and Tortillas which was $11. This guac definitely falls into one of my top 5 favorite guacs. It had a good range of seasoning and flavor from the peppers while still being smooth from the avocados. The total for my Burrito, drink, chips, and guac came to around $36 before tip.
The staff was extremely friendly and fun. The decor is great, the menu is simple. Be prepared to find a place to eat once you get it because this is really just a take out place. If there's no conference going on, you might be able to nab some seats in the hall next to the windows.
