If you enjoy great, fresh quality sushi this is the place to go when in San Francisco. I tried many sushi where I'm from but this place is hands down the best that I have had. The Green Tea is Great! I recommend trying the White Out Roll, Baked Scallop Roll, Watermelon Roll and the Halibut Tartar. You will not be disappointed. I didn't get to try the Shrimp heads but will when I come back. Great Atmosphere and Staff.
Excellent Sushi & Japan restaurant experience. Be sure to supplement with shiso leaf for some of the rolls that you order. They provide choice wasabi when ordering. Fresh natural Ginger!!! "Use the tiny metal tongs please."

This is our favorite sushi spot in the city! The staff is incredibly friendly, the fish is always fresh, and there is always something new to try! We always love getting recommendations on what to order and have learned so much about different types of sushi from coming here! So lucky to have this spot in our neighborhood!

I usually come here for the nigiri. They're simple, fresh and right-sized. I love how any sauce or topping used enhances the flavor of the fish without masking its natural sweetness. Everything from the texture and seasoning of the rice to the way the fish is cut makes a perfect bite each time. Sounds easy but really hard to execute and Saru Sushi does it just right.
I used to line up before they open for dinner to get a year. In recent years, I got lucky and worked nearby so I would stop by for lunch. Usually pretty easy to get seated during lunch.

Best fish I’ve tried in SF so far. Great tuna and uni and scallop specifically. The place is walk-in only which I love as someone who doesn’t like to reserve in advance. It is realistic to get seated without a wait on a Thursday night. The kitchen might be missing one more chef to keep the experience moving smoother / better pacing.
