3/5 Stars — Strong hospitality, but the food does not match the price tag.I want to love this place because the vibe is fantastic and you can rent it out for events. Our server was very friendly, and the drinks were the highlight of the night. Unfortunately, the kitchen needs serious help. Our food took so long to arrive that I ended up boxing my entree to eat at home. For a $126 bill, the quality just wasn't there. The shrimp was overly salty, the cabbage was unseasoned, and the mac and cheese tasted exactly like boxed Kraft. Great staff, but I won't be back for the food.
We had a wonderful meal at District in Portsmouth! The atmosphere was cozy, welcoming, and relaxed the perfect place to enjoy a comforting meal with family. Everything felt warm and inviting from the moment we walked in.
The food was outstanding and tasted like a true home-cooked meal. The meatloaf was absolutely delicious, the crab cakes were flavorful and perfectly prepared, and my 4-year-old happily ate her plate of chicken strips and fries. The liver and onions over buttered rice were phenomenal and easily one of the best dishes we’ve had in a long time.
Bree, our waitress, made the experience even better. She was friendly, incredibly attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Between the excellent food, wonderful service, and relaxing atmosphere, District is definitely a place we’ll be returning to. Highly recommend!
I usually don't blast black owned businesses but this place really needs to get it together. The food is amazing but the customer service is poor. Last time I went, they put me and my girlfriends out because they said they needed the section where we were sitting.. The restaurant was not packed at all. It actually was only about 10 people inside. I said let me try again. I called to have them cater an event and the lady left me on hold and never came back. I tried again bc I really do like to support black owned businesses. I went there for my son's graduation. We walked in and they said they are not seating anyone and only doing take out orders. Mind you its about 5 people seated throughout the restaurant eating. It's just always something with them. I'm done. I tried to support but they don't seem to care much.
The atmosphere was nice. I had a party of ten and the reservations were mixed up and created a big problem although we were the only ones in the restaurant. It took thirty minutes for food that was refrigerated cold like it was reheated. Especially the pig feet. Our server was new to the business which wasn’t her fault. However, the overall experience was disappointing especially for it to be my birthday lunch. I had people leaving because of the service and food. No. Sadly I won’t be returning.
It is a very nice vibe at District! Staff are very pleasant and friendly. Food is good, a little too much salt for my taste. I do not like an extra salty taste. But, the drinks were excellent not too heavy not weak at all just about perfect! Go, and keep going! We had a lot of fun!
