What a great spot! I sat on the outdoor patio, with the ocean directly in front of me. Was very sunny and light breeze to begin with. When the wind changed, they said we could move inside and they also offered to put down the sides of the patio (plastic shades for protection) which I thought was nice. Inside was welcoming, nice and bright. Small bar, clean restrooms. I think I heard them say they'd done some remodeling. They'll do great! Waitress was very friendly and chatty. I'd go again.
We wandered into Splash during a completely reasonable mid-May beach day that had somehow escalated into 90-degree temperatures because apparently the climate has entered its “freestyle jazz” era.
Michael was melting into the sand, so I made the executive decision to get us inside before he became a cautionary tale for tourists.
Perfect call.
We grabbed seats at the inside section of the bar while still getting the ocean view and patio vibe. It was the best of all worlds: salty sea air, icy AC breeze, cold drinks, and no direct sunlight trying to assassinate us.
Then there was Amy, our bartender, who instantly felt like someone we’d known for years. We ended up swapping service industry stories and laughing about the secret art of naming customer tabs. (“Man with bad toupee” may or may not have entered the chat.)
The drinks were excellent, the atmosphere was exactly what you want from an Ogunquit beach spot, and Michael’s crab roll disappeared fast enough to suggest genuine happiness.
By the end, the whole bar felt like a gathering of old friends. Even the ladies who ordered an off-menu drink and then sent it back because they didn’t like the thing they specifically ordered. God bless the service industry.

This is hard for me. It has always been a staple location for me. However there has been a change in staff and management. Recently went for breakfast and sat for over 45 min while others came and went around me. People ordered after me served before me and departed. The new crew in the kitchen seemed to struggle with my food allergies. The servers asked many questions but still 45 min after ordering no food. Scrambled eggs and a muffin should not take an hour. The blueberry muffin is not the same as it used to be and they now refuse to put it on the griddle. What was more stunning was the managers response or lack there of. Great spot for a cocktail. Unfortunately after 15 years of having breakfast here quite frequently over my summer months that will now come to an end.
I haven't been here in years but I sure do remember the delicious coconut fried shrimp and sweet potato fries The sauce for the shrimp was soooooooo good and this was the first time I had ever even thought to try sweet potato fries. Lunch with friends under the covered awning has remained a wonderful memory for me. Anything I tried was awesome, huge portions, fair prices. If I ever get back to my home away from home, I'll see you at Splash!
Thanks for helping me savor your foods and memories!!!
If you are looking for good food with a great view...Splash is the place to be.
