Definitely worth a visit but get there early as other reviewers suggest. We travelled an hour to visit Bakery at Hampton Manor, between Christmas and New Year. They opened at 8:30am and we arrived at 9:10am. There was still a good selection of pastries left - some savoury and lots of sweet options. The pastry was beautifully made and quite buttery - a bit rich for me, but my partner loved it! Not sure I saw any vegan options but see my photos for some examples of what was available. Great coffee selection and decaf and oat milk available. You can stroll around some of the grounds, which I highly recommend. It was lovely in the height of winter so I'm sure it's even more impressive in spring/summer. We'll definitely be back! As we left, it got VERY busy so be warned - once things sell out, that’s it for the day.
Cute rustic atmosphere and a lovely seating area (options both inside and outside)
However, the Almond Bear Claw looks the part but unfortunately was a bit of a style over substance situation. The pastry is huge, but the ratio between pastry and marzipan was really poor as the top layer was (huge,) flaky and dry rather than soft and fluffy, and I basically had to peel it off just to get to the marzipan underneath. Not exactly an elegant or pleasurable eating experience.
The cinnamon bun on the other hand was absolutely delicious - honestly, I’d travel from London to Birmingham just for that.
Staff are friendly however there isn't much instruction, you need to order from the counter where the bakery is first and then collect your drink after. Carrot cake was nice but can't say it was worth £6 I think it was to eat in? And the drinks are in small take away cups so they don't last long. The Garden area is really lovely and its set in woodland so on a hot day cars are shaded, short walk from the car park to the cafe, easy access. There is water for dogs too.
Personally think it's overrated. Sausage roll and cinnamon bun were nice, not cheap. Hot drinks were horrible, even a hot chocolate tasted off. They need to train the baristas. And it was pricey at £4 in a paper cup. Not a fan of the disposables being used. Overall not worth the travel for food for what I paid.
Great place to catch up with friends on a busy or lazy Sunday morning 🌄 simple choice of a savory or sweet breakfast with a ☕. The grounds are lovely with a herb garden next door and conservatory to sit in... Open Thurs til Sunday. Note: it can get really busy so best to get there early, especially if you want a Pain Au Chocolate, 💯👍😉‼️
