Enjoyed bringing my 90 year old mom and my best friend. Old time German deli and a full butcher shop too. Lots of deli sandwiches to choose from. The bread was very soft and delicious. Make sure that when you order from the lady in front that she gets the correct order. Mom wanted a chicken salad sandwich and she asked if she could have it on sourdough bread ( as it is on the menu for grilled cheese samdwich)...but the lady said NO it is only for grilled cheese. So my mom said ok chicken salad. Meaning the chicken salad sandwich. But apparently the lady thought she meant just a plain chicken salad. When my friend and I got our tri tip and brisket sandwiches, my mom's order never arrived. So I went up and said where is my mom's chicken salad and she pointed to the butcher and said you have to get it over there from him..I was confused but said ok and he came over and asked what I wanted and I said a chicken salad and he got be a small tub of what looked like a kind of old unattractive chicken salad. No onions or crunchy things like celery in it. Mom was disappointed. I believe it was a whole misunderstanding as when I brought it to mom she said where is my bread. So I went back and ordered her one bread roll. Had to pay extra. I didnt care about the money. I felt bad for my elderly mom who just wanted her chicken salad sandwich but never got that. Had tk make it herself. She said i never want to come here again. I felt so bad. I used to come here a lot as a child. Too bad. My sandwich was good and so was my friend's. The meat was a bit tough and I wished it had been chopped up a little bit for more easy eating. There frig was quite empty and it made me feel like we were in Russia during a famine..Leo the guy making our sandwiches was very kind and so was the sweet girl there too. I liked the cashier but it was a bad thing mom not getting to eat for another 20 minutes. The system is a bit difficult. Oh well.
An old fashion German Deli !! Flashback to my childhood! Very friendly kind older Lady lets me try some tasty sausages and I found what I was looking for .excellent meat …. Saturday special Bratwurst ..I only can say ..naked sausage on a bun ..don’t be stingy on Mustard and Ketchup Sauerkraut ..even napkins !!! That ruins the experience! Had to ask twice to actually see some Ketchup on my sandwich!!!!
This shop has so much character and an impressive selection. I enjoyed browsing all the specialty items, and the staff was helpful when I had questions. It’s the kind of local business that makes shopping feel more personal.
I rarely leave any bad reviews, but today was an exception. I checked this place out because Berolinas was closed and when I walked in there was one other customer in the shop, 3 employees. There was no warm welcome that you would normally expect from a local shop but they were busy chatting with each other about trips that they were about to go on. The grilled cheese I ordered to-go was not great, the presentation was lacking. Also! When I was checking out, the lady at the register put on a mask which was weird because she didn't put one on while she helped check out the customer before me and the one after.
Old time European sausage/meat shop best selection of fresh meat, fine sausages and cold cuts. You can also sit inside or outside enjoy the experience and have a made to order sandwich also a great selection of German beer. Pro tip, If your coming from a little bit of a distance bring a small cooler, you will need it.
