This was our second visit, and it didn’t disappoint. The food is delicious, although it is quite rich with generous amounts of olive oil and butter. There’s no fixed menu, so it’s more of a seasonal dining experience where you can try a variety of dishes with local ingredients.
The service is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax with a nice glass of wine and some excellent food. We’ll definitely be back.
A very charming and thoughtfully put-together restaurant. We went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and were seated straight away without a booking. The smell of freshly roasted chicken drew us in!
I really liked how unique the concept was, with the menu changing depending on the day, produce available and what the chef is cooking. At first, we found the chalkboard menu a little difficult to read and ended up ordering somewhat cluelessly, but once the food arrived, it was such a pleasant surprise. The dishes used very simple ingredients, but everything was so fresh and well-seasoned that they really stood out. A lovely little find, and definitely hoping to come back and try more dishes in the future!
We spent two days in Bruton to go to this restaurant and to Briar next door. The old pharmacy wins hands down. The staff are attentive, interested in your experience and very attentive and friendly. The food is local and fresh. The bread is some of the best I've ever had. Well done on such a wonderful place - I'd come back to Bruton just to eat here again. I can't say the same about the Michelin recommended place next door.
Gastronomic perfection! Easy to book, easy to find (we'd dined nearby the night before...that corner of Bruton is truly remarkable). We were shown into the main dining room which was beautifully decorated and intimately lit. We knew pretty much straightaway what we wanted from the menu, and the kitchen didn't disappoint in having the goods ready to go in no time. The sourdough bread was the first 'tick' on the taste buds - 4 generous slices of light and springy sustenance before the mozzarella arrived (see pic). We shared around 4-5 smalls plates and all were delicious and exceptionally presented. The gnudi was so incredibly light, and the taste and texture was giving simplicity and 'early childhood' in the best possible sense! The panna cotta dessert was silky, light, and even after all the other beautiful food, still gave us cause to luxuriate. As we weren't drinking, I tried the Feral No.1 and it was refreshing and elegantly served. Another compliment we want to pay is that the food was so good we forgot to take photos (it's kind of a compulsion these days so it was nice to be so distracted that sampling was better than snapping!) Thank you for the hospitality and the great food!
Great service, fresh food selected by the chef daily. Highly recommend this restaurant. The tuna was top shelf! They sat us down right away. We felt like home with an elevated experience. Cute setting perfect for dates, families, business meetings. Order everything on the blackboard menu and share it. It’s well worth the experience!
