Great ambiance and overall vibe and it really felt like stepping into a colonial-style tropical hangout. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive, with knowledgeable staff who added to the experience.
One of the biggest highlights is the extensive selection of Caribbean rums. I was recommended a Trinidadian rum, and it was excellent.
The biggest letdown for me, however, was the food. Toronto is arguably one of the best places outside the Caribbean to find incredible Caribbean cuisine, with many unassuming spots delivering bold, authentic flavors. Unfortunately, the food at Miss Likklemore didn’t come close. We tried the Seabream, Doubles, Patties, Nuff Nuff Slaw, and the Chocolate Mousse Cake. While everything was decent, the flavors felt quite basic and lacked the depth and vibrancy I was expecting, especially for the price point.
I understand the premium location at King and Spadina may influence pricing, but I would expect the food to match with bold, standout flavors. Instead, it felt like the menu was toned down for a more general bland palate, which is disappointing. Caribbean cuisine has so much character and richness, and leaning into that more confidently would make a much stronger impression. Many of the Thai and Vietnamese restaurants in the city are succeeding by doing exactly that, embracing bold, authentic flavors.
I wouldn’t return specifically for the food, but I would definitely come back for the rum selection and warm hospitality. Hoping to see a more vibrant and expressive menu in the future. The rums that you serve are itself a good inspiration to draw from!
