Dark Bar Songkhla operates as a charming cafe during the day and transforms into a bar at night, offering a unique dual concept. It's nestled in Songkhla Old Town, preserving the classic old building architecture and providing a 'dark-themed' yet inviting atmosphere. It's considered a hidden gem and a sign of the area's burgeoning cultural development.
Customers consistently praise the pleasant ambiance and 'dark vibes' of the establishment. The coffee is noted for being rich and flavorful, and the food is described as delicious. Many appreciate the beautiful interior and exterior, which offer numerous photo opportunities, as well as the comfortable air-conditioned environment.

You can choose coffee beans by roasting type. I ordered an iced Americano, but they mistakenly gave me a hot one; however, the staff kindly exchanged it for me. The lime lemonade had a stronger powdery taste than fresh lime flavor, and there was so much syrup at the bottom that I couldn't drink it. The bagel was delicious, but please note that you cannot add basic butter or cream cheese toppings.(only heavy or sweet topping can choose) The interior was modern and very nice. The restrooms are also clean. Oh, and please note that they do not accept card payments or Alipay Plus. Travelers should prepare cash.
Love everything about Dark Bar! The decor and music create such a cool, relaxed atmosphere. The owner is incredibly friendly and attentive—you can tell he has a genuine passion for great service. It was such a small world finding out the owner is a friend of my younger cousin, too!
Open from early morning until 9 PM, it's the ultimate all-day spot whether you're craving quality coffee, delicious comfort food, or a cold beer. Can’t wait to come back!
I usually post more photos and videos, but then I realize that often spoils the surprise of seeing, experiencing, and discovering the atmosphere and vibe of a place. This newly opened cafe bar (in Q2, 2026) lives up to its name “dark bar” in a certain spot of the premises and you can explore to find it.
But their opening hours—7am morning to 9pm night—means you can experience a bar vibe as early as 7am to post-dinner at 9pm in Old Town Songkhla, where most places close by evening and only a few spots are open for dinner (as of 2026). Keep in mind that the touristic development has only been in the past 3-5 years and that the town has been historically and even presently still a small sleepy fishing town (where the Old Town has been around for over a hundred years).
So a cafe bar here is a sign of burgeoning newness and mild gentrification. The recent opening of the Thai Creative Design Center (TCDC) by the Creative Economy Agency of Thailand just a few blocks from here also signals the Thai government’s conviction that Southern Thailand’s culture, crafts, and creativity are worth preserving and promoting—and Songkhla historically and even presently continues to serve as the hub and gateway to the South of Thailand, ever since the historic days of establishing the railway lines across Thailand and all the way to Songkhla as the final station in the South.
This post (review) on June 18, 2026 here inside Dry Bar is my understanding of Songkhla after being here the past couple years. If you happen to be reading this and wondering if this cafe is worth a visit, it certainly is—and given the context, you understand how its appearance is a sign of new winds to come in this historic location.
The music in this cafe bar certainly gives a bar vibe; and the pricing may be slightly higher than some of the cafes here but the vibe, the quality, the atmosphere, the experience—that’s what you’re paying for. So enjoy it while you’re here!
