I love local bakeries, so I was excited to try this one.
Food: I had a blueberry muffin and 8 oz regular drip coffee. I would have tried more, but the prices are generally high. The coffee alone was $4.50/8 oz. and $1 more for each higher size. Normally, I wouldn't spend this much on drip, but I decided to for this review. It was high-quality and fresh, as well as strong enough (Onyx brand), but as with so many local shops, what I'm told is a medium roast tastes very light to me, which I don't enjoy. The muffin was large and good with lots of berries, but because I didn't LOVE it, I'd try something else next time. The 4 stars is a nod to the muffin. I'd give three for the coffee.
Service:
No complaints here, except that the cashier was a little hard to hear. But she was warm and professional.
Atmosphere:
Since the bakery is new, it doesn't feel fully finished at the back, but I am sure that's temporary. It isn't a place to sit for an hour or so, unless a table is available outside. They have two long bench areas, and I hope one will be changed to some bistro tables when the weather turns. Otherwise, the bakery has a cozy, cute vibe with the goods presented appealingly. Go in the morning because when I stopped in yesterday afternoon, hardly anything was left. What I really love here is that you can see the bakers at work behind the counter, and it is clear they make their own products, apparently from scratch.
