Amazing place but dont star more than two nights.
We genuinely loved our stay and enjoyed the quiet slow paced atmosphere, however for a place with this kind of price tag we do think that there are room for improvement especially on the food side.
The breakfast is a fun experience but only for one or two days.
The hotel genuinely are missing heart health food and getting a overnight oats or healthy granola is priced at a crazy 50 EUR per off menu item.
The on site pasta course was disappointing compared with other cooking classes we have experience.
Would we recommend others to stay here. For sure but only for one or two nights.
Pure Heaven …. I have no other words for this place … we stayed there for 2 nights, connected my birthday present and our wedding anniversary and the result was the most magical stay … the staff is so nice and friendly, the rooms are perfect. Each have an individual style but you feel like home every second … there are 2 beautiful pools and an amazing herb garden where you have to walk by… but the highlight is the culinary experience… the community kitchen is something I have never seen before… amazing little things to eat for 24/7… the breakfast is very different but out of this world … what a start in the day … the first evening we had dinner at Cavallino in the heart beat of Ferrari in Maranello … really delicious… also very nice staff… but we made this trip for the second night … Dinner at Osteria Francescana… OMG a culinary experience I will never forget … unbelievable… sometimes you didn’t want to eat it because it was pure art work … but when you did it it was purely amazing … so overall it was unbelievable beautiful there, but you have to leave after 2 days otherwise you are in a food coma 😊😊… because what the team under the Maestro and his wife are creating is heavenly… I know something for sure … we will come back by 1000 %… than we will experience Al Gatto Verde and definitely Francescana at Maria Luigia…. This place get the highest recommendation I can think about
Fabulous!! Would give 6 stars if I could! The staff were the friendliest and most welcoming and engaging you could ask for and the food was wonderful. Breakfast was a curated 3 course extravaganza- quite unique and very tasty! The grounds of the hotel are just lovely - so tranquil. The hotel decor is modern but charming and well thought out, with lots of individual areas for lounging in, plus a kitchen area with free snacks and drinks all day. The room was well appointed, with good air con, a lovely bathroom and a very comfy bed. Am sure we’ll be back again!
We noticed at some point Casa Maria Luigia changed their schedule to be open 7 days a week, so we changed up our travel plans to stay here during our time in Emilia Romagna and the trouble of updating our plans was so worth it. This place is truly incredible and I would recommend it to anyone who comes to visit this area. There is clearly so much thought that goes into making this place feel like home - the staff is extremely friendly and we also had the pleasure of meeting Massimo and Laura here who are so warm and down-to-earth. We also did a tour of the Acetaia (where they produce traditional balsamic vinegar on the property) and we learned so much from the guided tour and are happy to be bringing back some gifts with us to remember this place when we’re back home.
Back from a stay at Casa Maria Luigia, which, though brief, was no less interesting and enjoyable.
Forget about a typical hotel stay or a simple gastronomic 'experience.' This is something else entirely, or at least that's how we experienced it.
Accommodation: Excellent, with rooms focused more on aesthetic detail than functionality. The garden/park is an oasis. We only missed a turndown service, usual at this level.
The thoughtful breakfast introduces you to regional products, but we did miss a simple croissant.
The service is young, attentive without being intrusive. Lara and Massimo want you to feel at home, and they succeed admirably.
The primary language is English, more so than Italian. The target clientele is tourists seeking experiences. There's a strong presence of Americans (Lara's excellent work is evident here as well).
Dinner: Casa Maria Luigia offers (and more) a tasting menu featuring some of the Chef's iconic dishes. Nothing is cooked there; there are no pans or pots, only plating up and ovens for setting temperatures.
In fact, you don't get the impression of being in a restaurant, but rather in an exhibition—an exhibition where the works aren't paintings to admire, but the dishes themselves, and the experience is a tasting preceded by an explanation of the 'work'.
It's best to go with a clear idea: it's not a 'dinner,' it's a visit to a "gastronomic exhibition." The result may be more or less to your liking. But this is it.
In all, we enjoyed our stay and plan to be back.
