C-Town calls itself a “farmer’s market,” but there’s nothing farmer’s market about it.
This isn’t the first time I’ve had problems with the quality of their fruit. It’s happened a couple of times already, but today I finally got fed up. I had just bought fruit about an hour earlier, got home, cut open the pineapple, and found that it was already bad, looking completely unsafe to eat. I took the fruit back in a plastic bag (because their own bags aren’t plastic anymore) along with my receipt, to ask management about it. Attached are photos of the pineapple. I even told them this is not even the worst condition I have bought fruits in, I’m here just to talk and advise you take this matter more seriously for future.
The manager was friendly, he listened to my concerns, and told me they’re working on finding a new supplier because of this issue. Now, I’m not sure if he said these to rest me assured or they’re actually working on it, however, him being in the affirmative that something is being done to fix the issue was reassuring. He explained that it takes time and even offered to show me the produce cooler, which I appreciated. At that point, I felt like the situation was being handled professionally.
Unfortunately, everything changed when the owner got involved. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, he turned a calm conversation into a shouting match. He was extremely disrespectful, refused to even identify himself, and wouldn’t tell me his name or provide any proof that he was the owner. What bothered me even more was that my refund wasn’t even important enough for him to remember. He didn’t refuse to refund me, but he completely forgot about it until I insisted on getting my money back.
I will be contacting the appropriate authorities about the quality of the fruit they sell. Based on my experience, it appears they buy fruit at lower prices and keep it stored in conditions that aren’t suitable for many types of produce. I’ve had to throw away multiple purchases made with my hard-earned money because the fruit was already spoiled or unsafe to eat.
Instead of taking responsibility in front of his customers, the owner seemed more interested in winning an argument. That says a lot about how this business is run. He was incredibly rude, and after this experience, I regret ever supporting this business.
