This legendary north London pub has had a grand makeover – and it reopens this week

The Queens, a legendary Grade II-listed pub in Crouch End, North London, is set to reopen this week following a grand makeover. Widely regarded as one of the most magnificent pubs north of the River Thames, The Queens was constructed between 1899 and 1902 as a companion piece to The Salisbury in Green Lanes. CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) hails it as a 'superb example of a pub from the golden age of pub building.' The venue boasts opulent architectural features, including a gorgeous mosaic floor, intricate stained glass windows, an ornate ceiling, and friezes adorned with detailed floral and geometric patterns. Architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner once praised the establishment, declaring it 'one of suburban London’s outstanding' venues, underscoring its significant historical and aesthetic value.
