Aharoni and Gidi Shake - A Breathtaking Experience at Tiyosu Market
If you're visiting Tokyo, getting up early for the Toyosu Market is one of the best decisions you'll make. The morning experience at the market – especially watching the Bluefin Tuna auction – is an absolute must for anyone who wants to experience authentic, precise, and vibrant Tokyo.
The Tuna Auction:
We stood on the viewing deck at 5:30 AM, and the energy in the hall was simply electrifying. Seeing Japan's leading wholesalers and chefs examine the fish with professional eyes, checking the fat quality with small flashlights, and then following the fast pace and quick signs of bidding – it's a graceful display of culture and professionalism at the highest level. The noise, the voices of the auctioneers, and the impeccable order create an unforgettable experience.
The New Toyosu Market:
The move from the old Tsukiji Market to the modern Toyosu has only improved visitor convenience. The complex is very clean, air-conditioned, incredibly accessible, and organized with clear English signage and excellent viewing paths.
The Morning Sushi:
After watching the auction, we went down to the market's restaurant area for breakfast. Eating fresh sushi made from fish that were sold just a few hours earlier is a culinary experience on a completely different level. The fish simply melted in the mouth, and the quality was unlike anything we had tasted before. We also ate whale and steaks. All at eight in the morning. A crazy experience!!!
