There’s no better dive bar in Wrigley. There are other greats, but if a formica bar, a pool table, and malort are your speed, Nisei Lounge is Valhalla. They don’t waste time with food, but Bread and Rice happily delivers right to your seat at the bar, from a couple doors down (and get your bartender a side of fries). If Stolen Saddle and Happy Camper are your idea of fun, Nisei isn’t your jam. Leave it for those of us who like subdued light, cold beer, and no bullshit.
One of Chicago’s best, and I do not say that lightly. Where else are they infusing Malört with such reckless passion, or fully covering the pool table every time they suspect the crowd may get a bit too drunk to show it the respect it deserves? Certainly the coolest bar in Wrigleyville and maybe also top 10 in The World.
I’ve been coming here for years, and honestly, I’m still newer compared to some of the regulars who’ve been calling this place home for decades. This is the kind of dive bar that gets everything right—people from all walks of life walk through the door and everyone’s welcome. I am generally in a button shirt and sport coat…
From the bartenders and door managers to the regulars (and of course, “Internet Dad”), there’s a genuine sense of community that makes you feel like you belong the moment you walk in. The drinks are reasonably priced, it’s dog-friendly, and you can bring your own food.
Some bars serve drinks. This one serves comfort & friendship. Anyway, I kinda like this place.
A dying breed of dive bar in the heart of Wrigley. It's dirty, it's grungy and the bartender never smiled. Not once. It's the perfect dive! The staff does a great job, and my fellow patrons were very friendly. They have darts, pool tables and a juke box. The music the bartender was playing suited us just fine. You can take in your own food and your dog because they don't have a kitchen! Prices are decent, especially for the area.
